Went to see Floorplay last night. WOW! This is some production. The dancing, choreography, costuming (mostly), singing and ENERGY is amazing!
I saw Jason Gilkison's Ballroom two years ago and wasn't in a rush to see the new show because I thought it was much the same - and indeed there were some segments I remembered but it didn't matter - it was great to see them again and there was lots of new stuff.
It took me a while to recognise Alarna Patience with short, black hair. She was the victim of a 'most unflattering costume' (the small black thing with straps and stockings didn't do a lot for her), but that was probably the only negative thing I have to say about the whole evening.
Met Jason's mum on the way out and she confessed that she comes every night. How's that!
To me the most outstanding thing is the joy and the energy from the performers. They throw their hearts and souls into what they are doing.
Stand-out performers? I dunno - too hard, they all did a great job. Some had bigger roles than others but they all put 110% into the role they had.
Well done and highly recommended. _________________ Kind regards,

I loved the show also, but thought the first half and the costuming was just like Ballroom. All the dancing was energy plus. I must say I enjoyed the second half much more, especially the ending "Rollin on the River". That piece is Jason and Peta all over. I kinda hoped they would make a special appearance in the actual Rollin on the River piece, as it was their first show. Also Peta Murgatroyd was just amazing, she made the show. The others all gave their best too, but she just had that something... As I said I just would have liked the first half to have something different, costuming whatever. Also I really enjoyed the female singer, what a voice.... Well Done Jason and Peta, you make WA proud...

I've heard so many great reviews about this show, but havnt been able to see it yet. It would be nice if it toured all of australia, so that we all get to see this amazing show. But otherwise i spose i'll just have to travel interstate to see it. Good work Jason and Peta, I have to agree you have been i great credit to our country, with your amazing results in those competitive days to know... Just great!

We also went to see Floorplay and although we enjoyed the show I did get the feeling that they were trying to cut costs. There were no programmes and I could swear that some of the costumes were the same ones used in the previous show "Ballroom". They had some great dancers but I would have liked to have seen more of Trent Whiddon - he only came on briefly in the second half the day we went. Possibly he was sick or injured???? Also would have liked to have seen more big names such as Natalie Lowe who was in the previous production. What about getting Joshua Keefe on the next show - he is my alltime favourite male dancer.

There were programmes the night we were there - I guess you were just unlucky. That happened to me at 'Ballroom'. Yes, some of the costumes were the same as 'Ballroom', I think it is still evolving.
I thought the dancers were great and although your favourite may not have been there, there were plenty of 'big names' and some great dancers that I hadn't heard of. It would be nice to have more than one ballroom couple, and perhaps do a bit more with that style.
Apparently Trent is not in the show at the moment - I heard he had filled in for someone for some shows. I heard that he wants to concentrate on comp but don't know if that is correct. _________________ Kind regards,
