Channel 10 will be hosting the Australian version of SYTUCD next year. The producers have begun going around to regional places for auditions and later this year they will most likely hit the major cities. i have heard that one of the judges is Li Cunxin (famous ballet dancer i think). And rumor was that Todd McKeney was goind to ditch dancing wit da stars and judge for SYTYCD. But i have heard that he is not going to. Look fwd to hearing more about AusSYTYCD. So we can show em the talent we have in this country...

I am very much looking forwards to this! Would love to see Arkady in it but he is probably busy. Wonder who else from the ballroom field might give it a go?

Brisbane auditions this weekend! Should be good, hope to see many ballroom dancers there! I know some people are a little disapointed that you have to be 18 by the 1st of February. And don't forget your music must be an original CD, not a burnt disc or downloaded song file.

Brisbane Auditions
The Brisbane first round auditions were held this weekend around 1,000 dancers auditioned over the two days. There was a small contingent of ballroom dancers that auditioned around 12-15 i think, but no big names. Apparently the majority of Ballroom dancers made it through to the next round of Auditions which are being held in front of the judges Monday and Tuesday this week. The second round auditions will be held at Chandler in Brisbane and this will be where the dancers perform their solos, or with their partners. The first round audition process consisted of a group of 10 dancers at a time listening to a piece of music and then performing an improvisation to the music. As there was a lot of Breakers, HipHop Dancers and Contemporary dancers the people who had the best tricks were the ones to be picked, the ballroom dancers were lucky. People ranged from the ones who thought they could danced (but couldn't) to Professional dancers form Hip Hop companies and ex-dancers from the Moulin Rouge and Jupiters Casino. Good luck to all those who made it through, and all the best with making it through to the rounds in Sydney later on... I'll be watching :D ...

Hi Everyone I do know of a few ballroom dancers auditioning at the perth auditions. They do need as much info on the process of the first round, especially from the adelaide auditioners and brisbane. eg. do all 10 have to dance at the same time? or 1 at a time. is the music from the list of 10 that you have to be prepared to dance to , as written in the audition section. Good luck to the Ballroom/latin dancers of Perth. I will keep everyone posted with results :D

Are members of the public able to watch the dancers auditioning or is it done behind closed doors?

I don't know the answer to your question ladeda, but I guess it would be closed. I know of a few ballroom dancers going to audition, and have my suspicions that a couple of others maybe preparing stuff for it. I really hope that a few ballroom dancers get through!

Does anyone know how the Perth ballroom dancers went at the weekend auditions of SYTYCD?

I have heard that at least a couple got through to the next round - will try and confirm asap and then post some more details.

We know definitely of 1 couple that is going to Sydney, 2 other couples were going to the choreography round, and 1 couple was still waiting to perform in front of the judges, as to the results of those we will wait and hope they do well.

Do you have any names for us, jasper?

Brendan and Jemma were told they were going straight thru to sydney. Not sure just yet the overall outcome of the other three couples after the choreography round. These couples were Damien and Gemma , Quinn and Steph and Andrew and Dianne . Sorry if the spelling is wrong.
