Was great to see Aric and Masha win its about time. Masha looked great lovely dress and grooming.

Rhett and April should have won the brm. when is aus going to wake up and let them win I'm sorry AUSQLD, Michael and Milana were the clear winners. Their freedom of movement is was very impressive. This was a very strong final and also Semifinal, great to see this high level of dancing in Australia

Absolutely agree with Manfredi. Michael and Milana were clear. This in no way detracts from the fantastic dancing of Rhett and April. I LOVE this couple. I have loved watching their development over time. To my mind they definitely challenged for 2nd place. Another comment on the comp was for the Youth Standard. It was great to see Jared and Mamu back on form. They did have a down comp at Megastars, so it was an even more pleasing result. Declan and Kirsty deserved their 2nd place in my opinion as well. Andrew and Shannen were good, and I love Andrew's topline, but there is just something about their dancing that just doesn't sit right, and have not got a clue what! Congratulations to Andrew and Shannen for the 10 dance rep. Again, I thought Declan and Kirsty were very close, and I was surprised that Andrew and Shannen were awarded 9 of the 10 dances. Adult Latin was fabulous! I would hate to be the judges trying to split Aric and Masha and Michael and Lauren. Too hard for me! In the Youth things were much closer, and I honestly thought this was not the best dancing from Igor and Hannah. Really thought it was between Andrew and Shannen and Jared and Mamu. Great also to see a strong New Vogue field! Again, Zalie and Jacob were clear winners in the Amateur; as were Declan and Kirsty in the Youth.

Well purely for accuracy's sake... Blackpool 2008 results from Dancesport Info: Amateur Rising Star Ballroom Rhett & April Rd 4, 44th place Michael & Milana Rd 3, 59th place but... Amateur Ballroom Rhett & April Rd 4, 72nd place Michael & Milana Rd 4, 62nd place So it was 1 each... congrats to both couples. They are both doing very well.

manfredi im not sure if you are aware but Rhett was placed alot higher then Michael and Milana at blackpool. Aprils dress is outstanding. much better than in the past. Aric and Masha won that comp in my eyes very clearly. Michael and Lauren could have even got 3rd or 4th. Lee Roy was better and also the little melb couple. When is aus going to change???? Zalie and Jacob are very strong but I would watch out for Brad and Nikki and also David. Would of had Adam B to win pro latin. yes i am very aware of Rhetts results overseas, and if you read some of my earlier posts you will see that I usualy prefer his dancing over Michael and Milana's (As in Megastars) but they have improved a lot over the past week, what they were ytring to create at Mega's is starting to come into fruition for them. yes Aric and Masha were clear winners, he danced a lot more relaxed, and this worked for him! Well done! Michael and Lauren were definatley 2nd place tho i won't argue about it. The class that Lauren has is wonderful to watch. I'm not much of a fan of Lee Roy, quite brittle... Jacob and Zalie have a very secure bass and technique/footwork. however.. hmm when i watch anything above the legs i have to look away. Brad and Nikki challenged them in the first two dances, but seemed to lose something toward the end of the event. Shame David and Rachel wernt there.

In the Youth things were much closer, and I honestly thought this was not the best dancing from Igor and Hannah. Really thought it was between Andrew and Shannen and Jared and Mamu. Great also to see a strong New Vogue field! Again, Zalie and Jacob were clear winners in the Amateur; as were Declan and Kirsty in the Youth. Mm I know what you mean henry, watching the event Igor and Hannah looked the winners... but i don't think it was because of brilliant dancing. I saw lots of arms from Igor, no body tick, good leads and connection, more ARMS, and from Hannah some messy footwork. They wernt really on their game with a few slips and unstable lines. However, I had heard that Igor was recovering from an operation on his arm or something. Still i saw a lot of those big arms... :P There was a new couple that stood out to me in the youth open events, who definately should have been in the final of the youth latin. Magnus and Daria, who placed third in the Youth Tendance. This girl really stood out to me, definately loads of talent. Andrew and Shannon were on fire at this comp, his Latin has Improved imensely as well as his New Vogue. I thought that Andrew and Shannon were the clear winners in the Youth New Vogue at this competition. They showed a very mature approach to their dancing, especially in the foxtrot rhythms. Declan and Kirsty need to watch their foot closings and aim for more flow thoughout. Well done though, as they were the winners. Anyone suprised that Nethaniel and Angelica were beaten in the Juvenile Latin? David Santalucia and Briana must have been thrilled!! They have come along way and i'm sure it wouldnt be long before they beat them in the Standard also. Very controlled dancers their teachers have done an excellent job. A couple to watch in the future.

Nethaniel and Angelica danced out of time in jive. they have huge timing issues. this needs to be addressed fast. I had them last in jive.

What happened to the trophies???
Why were the pertetual trophies not given out at the South's? Did anyone else notice their absence? I think that they are such an importnat part of the history of the event, and it would be incredibly sad to see them disappear. I do not know who made this decision, but I think it is one that needs to be reversed. So much history is on these trophies, and the current winners deserve to be part of it. Also, where was the Honour Roll of past winners in the programme? Congratulations to the new team on managing to run a great comp in a great venue, but please do not throw out the history of this great competition. Change is a fabulous when it brings improvement (love the new venue - except that more food options INSIDE the building would have been better); but change for just the sake of change is not. Remembering the history of this great event and the dancers who have excelled here, should never be forgotten. Bring back the Honour Roll and bring back the Perpetual Trophies.
